Another Beautiful Wall

The moment I left school for Christmas break I drove to the craft store and got my supplies to start a new project.  I've had a lot going on and the last thing I can do right now is sit still.  I started on Friday night, took 2 days off for Christmas shopping and appointments and finished on Thursday night.

I used a regular latex paint for this stencil and it was a bad idea!  Stick to stencil paint.  I had to clean my stencil several times because the paint was so thick.

 Guest Bedroom AFTER!!!
Someone insisted on sitting on my WHITE bed!

The weird color on the wall is a reflection from the mirror.  I tried to take a few pictures at angles where it wouldn't reflect but it did.

Framing sea fans

I discovered sen fans online at a website: http://www.shellhorizons.com/
I think they are great.  I ordered a dozen of two different kinds- Bahama Sea Fans & Black Sea Fans.  The prices of the fans are great and if you order a dozen at a time you have a variety to choose from.

I found some box frames at Hobby Lobby at 50% off!  The frames already had a foam backdrop for using pins (If your frame doesn't have a foam backdrop you'll have to add one and cover it with fabric). This was so easy!  I used small pins to pin up the fans.  The hardest part was hanging the frames evenly.

These are the fans I ordered.  I used the Bahama Sea Fans for other things around the house.

When ordering from this website notice that if you order from FL you must have a business license.  If you don't then send your order to a friend in a nearby state.

Coat rack- (Present for my sister)

I told my sister to stay away from the blog until after Christmas!!

My sister said she wanted a coat rack for her kitchen.  I found these hooks at JoAnn's, they were 60% off.  I got all 5 for under $16.  The wood was scrap cedar wood once used as fence.  It was FREE!

Simple project and a great gift!

I'll do it myself...

So I found this painting by Andy Davis that I LOVE but it cost $700... $700 that I can't afford.
I decided to attempt painting it myself.  I was happy with my results!  I took some extra weathered cedar wood and framed it out.  Simple, easy, and I think it looks pretty good.  I might be a copycat but at least I didn't spend $700.
I used a thin piece of wood to reinforce the back.

I think the more weathered the wood, the better it looks!

All complete!

Christmas Crafts

I LOVE to decorate for Christmas!  Since decorations are so expensive I found creative ways to make decorations for the house.

This is a ribbon wreath made from a basic wire wreath and ribbon.  The wreath base was about $5.  I recommend waiting for the ribbon to go on sale!

I've seen these everywhere and wanted them but they were anywhere from $15- $30 per tree.  I found glittered styrofoam balls and styrofoam cones.  I cut the small balls in half and superglued them on then filled in the spaces with small plastic berries.  It cost under $20 total with lots of extra materials to make more.

Creative way to display Christmas cards.  I bought this large bow and added a matching ribbon.  I taped the cards on last year and they kept falling but this year I stapled them on.

I hosted a cookie swap party and I want to jazz up my table.  I found these paper balls at Target for $3 for 2.  (Notice my terrible, mismatching table... project to come)

I picked up some mini poinsettias at Big Lots and used them to decorate the candles in the bathroom.  I also used some to hot-glue onto more styrofoam cone to make poinsettia trees.

I hope these ideas give you some creative inspiration for your holidays!!!  Merry Christmas!
